Sharrie Williams, the Princess of Rockin' Gospel Blues is coming to Bod to perform, to preach, and heal our souls!
Cântăreaţa de blues recunoscută internaţional provine din Statele Unite ale Americii, dar concertează de vreo 20 ani cu mare plăcere şi în Europa. A participat la toate festivalurile prestigioase de blues din Europa şi din Statele Unite ale Americii și este supranumită prinţesa gospel-ului blues-rock-ului.
Asta pentru că reușește să îmbine în concerte aceste 3 genuri muzicale. Atu-ul ei cel mai mare este concertul live şi spectacole pe care şi le pregăteşte temeinic, reuşind să furnizeze un act artistic de mare calitate. A fost premiată şi nominalizată aproape la tot ceea ce se putea, toate premiile şi distincţiile din branşa blues-ului internaţional.
Sharrie Williams este cotată printre primii 15 interpreți de blues din Statele Unite. În jurul ei s-au creat şi alte trei trupe foarte cunoscute în domeniul blues-ului, toţi fac parte din topul celor mai buni interpreți de blues la ora actuală aflaţi pe val.
Three time Blues Music Award nominee and 2012 Blues Album of the Year award winner from L’Academie du Jazz, Sharrie Williams was born and raised in the Daniel Heights projects of Saginaw, Michigan. Sharrie began singing in the church choir at the age of six, and by the time she was 12 she had begun touring and recording with the Greater Williams Temple church choir. Under the choir directorship of Hubert J. Williams, Sharrie performed and recorded with Shirley Caesar, The Winans, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, and the Reverend James Cleveland.
Sharrie has given great and unforgettable performances at blues festivals and clubs throughout the world and has collaborated and appeared with Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Ruth Brown, Mavis Staples, Van Morrison, Dizzy Gillespie, Larry McCray, Sugar Blue, Bobby Bland, Walter Trout, Johnny Taylor, and Joanna Connor, just to name a few. Her influences include Koko Taylor, Etta James, Tina Turner, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, and the legendary Billie Holiday–each of whom have helped shape her unique style.
Sharrie Williams & The Wiseguys continue to tour and have expanded their mission to include Poland, Austria, The United Emirates, Demark, Finland, Qatar, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Georgia, Ireland, Norway, Hungary, Tunisia, and 20 other countries. Sharrie’s desire is to take her Rockin’ Gospel Blues to every country and every nation, and as certain as the rain ending in time for her performance, there’s no stopping this princess!
Biserica fortificată din Bod
Biserica fortificată din Bod a cunoscute vremuri grele, fiind distrusă, pe rând, de incendii și cutremure.Bazilica romanică construită în secolul al XIII-lea și prevăzută cu clopotniță este grav afectată de un incendiu două secole mai târziu. Începând cu sfârșitul secolului al XVIII-lea evenimentele se precipită: clopotnița se prăbușește, în 9 ani un alt turn este construit peste ruina acesteia, dar numai 3 ani mai târziu biserica este complet distrusă de un cutremur. Și nu doar biserica, ci și zidul de fortificație este grav afectat. Incinta poligonală, cu zwinger și turnuri de apărare este demolată aproape complet după acest episod.
Astăzi la Bod poate fi admirată biserica ridicată în 1806, al cărei turn afectat de cutremurul din 1977 a fost ulterior stabilizat. Interiorul bisericii adăpostește altarul din 1869, care împreună cu orga din 1816 formează un tot unitar. Clopotele originale, datând din perioada catolică a bisericii, au fost distruse odată cu prăbușirea turnului. Slujbele de astăzi sunt acompaniate de singurul clopot care a scăpat de rechiziționările războiului și de alte două din bronz, datând din 1922.
The fortified church in Bod
The fortified church in Bod went through difficult times, strongly affected by fire and earthquakes.
The Romanesque basilica with a bell tower built in the 13th century was partially destroyed by fire only two centuries later. Starting with the late 18th century, the events precipitated: the bell tower collapsed only to be rebuilt nine years later. But after three years the church was massively destroyed by an earthquake, together with its fortification wall. The polygonal wall with outer bailey and defence towers was almost completely dismantled after this episode.
Today in Bod one can admire the church built in 1806, whose tower damaged by the earthquake in 1977 was subsequently stabilized. The interior of the church houses the altar from 1869, which forms a whole together with the organ built in 1816. Original bells, dating back to Catholic times were destroyed when the tower collapsed. One bell that escaped the damages of war and further two bells made of bronze in 1922 accompany the Sunday service today.
